Tango no Sekku (端午の節句)

Tango no Sekku, also known as Children’s Day in Japan, is a traditional festival celebrated on May 5th to pray for the healthy growth and happiness of children, especially boys. Families display kabuto (samurai helmets) and koinobori (carp-shaped streamers), which symbolize strength and success in life. As one of Japan’s five seasonal festivals, this tradition has been cherished for centuries.

Product Details

The kabuto (helmet) features the Matsu Musubi (Pine Knot), a symbol of good fortune. The maedate (helmet ornament) is adorned with the Awaji Musubi, the fundamental knot in Mizuhiki, often used in celebrations to signify strong and lasting connections. Lastly, the Kanou Musubi, commonly found in amulets, is used for the helmet cords, carrying the heartfelt wish that wearing them will help fulfill a child’s hopes and dreams.
